good bye garmin
it's obvious that one can run without a Garmin watch but, at the same time, it's incredible
what happened
without ceremony, I rolled down the window and tossed my Epix Gen 2 to oblivion. That was it. No deciding between donating, gifting, or reselling it.
No friction.
It was a spontaneous act. Not even a decision.
Over the past couple of years, as life "got in the way" in the form of children, I'd wonder from time to time about the smartwatch. Each time, I would see no downsides on it. Even though I don't trail run or surf anymore, I like the aesthetics of the Epix and its usefulness for our family hikes.
But it's gone now. Somewhere along Mulholland Highway, by Malibu Creek State Park.
some (but not much) remorse
This happened on Saturday and, by now, three days later, I've caught myself looking at my wrist to check the time.
Other than that, nothing else.
Let's see what happens the next time I go out on a run. It's obvious that one can run without a Garmin watch but, at the same time, it's incredible.
